On a recent trip to Nemacolin Woodlands (a fantastic vacation spot) my 11 year old son met another boy his age from New Jersey. After talking to the boy I learned that he motivated his parents to drive him all the way from New Jersey to this vacation spot in Pennsylvania (about a 10 hour drive) because he wants to be an architect and wanted to see Fallingwater (the famous home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright). I thought to myself how cool is it that an 11 year old boy would be excited enough about home design to be able to get his parents to take him this far just to see a house!

This young man should be an inspiration to us all. Why settle for a boring bathroom remodeling project when you can design something with a sense of wow and/or a feeling of tranquility? Why “settle” for a bland bathroom when with a little planning you can have something extraordinary? Here are some ideas to inspire your bathroom remodeling design:

Figuring out the right shower replacement window can be difficult. Although it’s nice to have the sunlight and ability to get air flow through this window, the fact that it’s located inside the wet shower area presents privacy and frame deterioration concerns not normally associated with most windows. Here is the low-down on different types of shower windows to consider:

Why should you design a kitchen that looks like what everyone else has when you can jazz it up with a contemporary flair of color and style? When most people think about using glass blocks they usually picture them in a bathroom or basement setting, but glass blocks in your kitchen provide a focal point to make the room really pop. Here are 3 ideas to consider for your kitchen.

So you’ve come to the conclusion that something has to be done about your old outdated bathtub enclosure. The color of the old tiles may be outdated, cracked or look just really nasty with the growth of mold and mildew. A sound and budget saving solution to these problems is an acrylic wall surround.

One of the biggest money wasting places in old factories is existing wood and metal framed windows. These old windows are often single panes of glass, have frames that are rusted or rotted and offer an easy point of entry for vandals. When Martindale Electric called Cleveland Glass Block they were looking for a window solution that would combine high security, reduced heating costs and operability to provide air flow for their factory workers.

The solution: A mixture of operable vinyl double hung replacement windows with durable glass blocks.

I’ve been asked the question over and over – should I use glass blocks or acrylic blocks for my window project. While I will tell you I admittedly have a bias (I’ve been in the glass block business for over 25 years) my companies sell both glass and acrylic products and I try to recommend what’s best for the customer. Here are my pointers on how to choose between these 2 different materials:
